General Enquiries

Joshua sat in his office reading over some new papers for the start of a new term. Apart from the Supernatural Studies & Solutions Teaching position he still held, this was his new job. It was easy at first but he had an idea that it wasn't going to be all smooth for a long time. He wasn't currently expecting anyone but his office was always open (unless he was away or with someone else) for anyone to come in and speak to him about anything that might be worrying them.

Sephy knocked shyly on the principal's door. It wasn't in her character to make special inquiries, but this was different. It wasn't a complaint, it was a request. She brushed her hair out of her face and smoothed down her skirt, making sure she looked as neat and presentable as possible; she wanted to make a good impression. Even though she'd been at this school for ages and had been taught by Mr Durance, she was the kind of person who blends in, and he'd probably forgotten who she was.

"Come in," he called as he heard the knock at the door. As Sephy entered he waved slightly. "Hello Sephy. What do I owe the pleasure of this business to?" he said, waving his hand to indicate her to take a seat in front of his desk. He smiled and lowered the papers he had been reading and took his glasses off and sat them on the desk - they served no real purpose but he liked to think the glasses made him look somewhat "cool", although generally, unbeknownst to him, they had the opposite effect.

She smiled, knowing that the meeting was getting off to a fairly good start; he actually remembered her name! She sat down neatly, with perfect posture, not feeling privileged enough to lean against the back rest. "Sir, I was wondering if it might be possible for me to have extra tuition?" she asked in her perfect, clipped English accent. She was still very quiet, barely raising her voice over a whisper. "You might know that I've been receiving regular detentions for not, ahem, performing in class, and I'd like to correct that, if I may."

Principal Durance nodded at the request, "Yes, you have been receiving detentions for not ... hmm, ah, performing well in class when we both no it is within your capability. It's something easily corrected. I think if you want tuition, I have no problem in that but you'll need to see the teachers in charge of each subject for tuition. What subject were you looking for tuition in?" he inclined.
He positioned his head down and looked up curiously. "But it's good you wish your behavior to be corrected. Your discipline - or lack of, therefore, is becoming a problem... as you will have noticed."

"I'm very sorry, sir," she said, though she didn't truly feel it. Surely it wasn't her fault? Plenty of people had difficulties using their powers, and hers was a very subtle one. "I do try my best, sir, but it's just a matter of chance as to whether it works or not. I'll promise to try harder in the future; every time I lose a fight I get injured, in any case." She shifted sharply in her seat as she accidentally put weight on the large bruise on her hip.

"Near Future Fore-Sight is a tricky ability, my cousin has the same ability. It's a difficult one to use and learn how to but with time and practice I think you would be able to succeed. I understand you will want help with it," he said. "A logical explanation would be to assume it requires concentration, something while you are fighting can be hard to do... to concentrate but I think you need to just take a walk out, yourself, down the Floating Gardens and just admire nature, try to concentrate on what the creatures are doing. If there are any fights going on - playful ones - then try and see what you can see. Fore-sight is a placid power, but will come to you in due course," he said, nodding serenely.
